Mohammad Muzammil appointed new VC of Agra University; Jauhar resigns

Prof Mohammad Muzammil, Vice Chancellor (VC) of M J P Rohilkhand University will be the new VC of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University (formerly Agra University). He has been directed by the Uttar Pradesh Governor, B L Joshi in his capacity as the Chancellor to take additional charge of Agra University.
Prof D N Jauhar, former Vice Chancellor of the university, had submitted his resignation to Governor in the state capital Lucknow. Following the development of Prof Muzammil taking over the university, employees and students heaved a sigh of relief, said a university official.
“The VC’s (Jauhar) days were anyway numbered after the resignation of Pawan Kumar Bansal as union railway minister. Jauhar was believed to be close to Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla and many decisions were taken to please him,” the official added.
“People had big hopes from him (Jauhar) but now he leaves in utter disgrace. The university is in complete shambles,” said a retired teacher of the varsity, reported Business Standard.
