Education sector has been named as a major employment driver in India during the Indian Job Outlook Survey 2012 conducted by Tjinsite, which is a research and knowledge arm of TimesJobs.com. The supply of candidates is considerably growing in the sector as job seekers are eyeing employment opportunities in this by considering it as a recession proof segment. The demand for academicians with regards to professors is just not limited to the customary education industry. Further, some other prominent sectors such as healthcare/pharmaceutical and IT/ITeS are also contributing to the demand landscape of education segment.
Dhruv Desai, Senior VP Human Resource & Leadership Academy, Angel Broking stated that jobs in education sector will continue to grow for next two decades. This sector has shown a remarkable growth by offering great number of vacancies through job portals and supplements in comparison to the other sectors. According to him, the market for playschool/kindergarten in urban locations is another critical area in the education segment, which is generally ignored. This type of market has provided employment opportunities to fresh graduates, especially women who possess 0 to 2 years of experience with decent remuneration packages.
Still, the larger intake of educational jobs is being created at the senior level, candidates with 7-15 years of experience. The credit for this can be given to the expanding operations in multiple education levels such as UG, PG and PhD/Doctorate. Desai relates this movement to the phenomenon of Brain-Drain, and highlights that owing to the boom in higher education segment, experienced and senior educationists who are settled in foreign countries are willingly relocating back to India. This change is a result of attractive pay packages and reputed profiles offered by private education institutions and universities. To continue this trend of evolution for education jobs, he stressed that apart from simple education jobs, employment options should also be encouraged for administration, research and consultant profiles, he adds.
