A M Naik, Chairman, L&T, IIM Ahmedabad
A M Naik, Chairman and Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mumbai has been nominated as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Mananagement Ahmedabad for a period of three years. He will also head the the Board of Governors of the premier B-School. The Ministry of Human Resource Development finalised his name.
He will assume charge after March 28, 2012 when the tenure of the current Chairman Dr. Vijaypat Singhania ends.
Padma Bhushan recipient Anil Manibhai Naik hails from Endhal, a village in South Gujarat and comes from a family of teachers. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering college in Vallabh Vidyanagar in Gujarat. In 1965 he joined L&T, as a junior engineer. He was promoted as general manager in 1986. In 1999, he became the chief executive officer and managing director. And in 2003, he was appointed as chairman of Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
He is associated with several educational and charitable trusts to uplift the rural populace of India. He is a member of Board of Trustees of the Indian Business Trust for HIV/AIDS. He is also the Honorary Consul General for Denmark.
