University of Mumbai has has instituted three new awards One of it is the best researcher among its teachers. This will be awarded to the deserving candidate on its Foundation Day from next year onwards.
The other two awards will be for the best university department and the best department in administration, as announced vice-chancellor Rajan Welukar at the function. The university usually felicitates achievers from the university and gives prizes to many others who have done extraordinary work in various categories within the university, on its foundation day. However, good researchers failed to get recognition from the 156-year-old institution.
Apart from this, the university will promote more colleges to go in for academic autonomy and have at least 15 autonomous colleges under the university.
