N. Prabhu Dev, Bangalore University’s vice-chancellor has submitted his resignation to the Governor on October 13th. As per the sources in Raj Bhavan, Prabhu Dev met the Governor and expressed willingness to take up the post of the chairman of the newly formed Karnataka Health Systems Commission (KHSC).The chance are very high that the Governor will accept the resignation and his exit will be a smooth affair. Due to his full-time job(the new post), he will not be able to continue as vice-chancellor,” the sources said.
In connection to it, the university administration is preparing a list of the senior-most deans in Bangalore University that will be sent to the Raj Bhavan for the Governor to appoint an acting vice-chancellor.Finance Officer N. Rangaswamy is said to be a front runner for the post. As per the rules of the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000, the acting vice-chancellor can be in charge for a month or until a permanent arrangement is made by the Chancellor.
