Rajinder Singh Bawa
Rajinder Singh Bawa, an economist and director at Amritsar College of engineering, has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Chandigarh University at Gharuan in Mohali. He has served as a teacher for more than thirty years at the university level.
A glimpse of his career states that he started his career as Assistant Professor at PAU Ludhiana in March, 1974, and joined Guru Nanak Dev University in 1979 as Reader. He worked as Professor of Economics in GNDU, Amritsar from 1987 to 2010. Bawa, provided his services as a Registrar in Guru Nanak University as from 1996 to 2009 for a record three terms.
Rajinder Singh Bawa, has also enjoyed some other prominent positions held included elected President of Indian Economic Association for the year 2001-2002. This position has been held by renowned economists like Dr. Manmohan Singh in 1985 and Dr. Amratya Sen in 1989. He was also a member Editorial Advisory Board of the Indian Economic Journal during 2002-04 and again from 2008. He is a member of Indian Economic Association, Indian Econometric Society, Regional Science Association of India, Indian Society of Information Theory & Applications, Indian Society of Agricultural Economics.
