AMU Professor suspended for irregularities in admissions

The Prof Z U Khairuwala, chairman, department of commerce of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been suspended by the vice chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah, after allegations were proved regarding irregularities for admission tests for M.Phil/Ph.D in the department of Commerce.
The decision was taken after the submission of a report by a three-member inquiry committee. A high placed source said, the entire admission test for PhD candidates in the faculty of Commerce has been “scrapped”. A fresh entrance test would now be held at an “early date.”
According to the VC, no discrimination will take place against any student even if he was involved in the protest which ultimately led to the suspension of the Chairman of the Department of Commerce.Lt Gen Shah said the students should have “full confidence” in the transparency of the admission process.
