Prof. Shashi K Dhiman appointed as first VC of Himachal Pradesh Technical University

Professor Shashi K Dhiman has been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur by the state government.

HPTU was set up as the fourth University in the state, by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University act in July, 2010.

Prof Dhiman has a B.Sc from DAV College Kangra, and M.Sc of Science, M.Phil and P. Hd in Nuclear Sciences from Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. He has published more than 70 research papers in peer refereed International and National Research Journals and presented his research work in many national and interaction conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.

Dhiman has acted as Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator for many research projects being funded by University Grants Commission, Department of Science and Technology, Board Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, etc.

He held permanent teaching and research faculty positions in Indira Gandhi National Open University,  School of Physical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.

Before joining as VC, he was Director, University Institute of Information Technology since May, 2008 and Chairman, Department of Physics, H.P. University Shimla. He has visited many Universities including the Institute of Nuclear Theory, University of Washington, Seattle USA as Visiting Professor and The University of Birmingham, United Kingdom as a Visiting Scientist.
