ISB Mohali to set up Bharti Institute of Public Policy with TUFTS University

The Indian School of Business (ISB) is setting up Bharti Institute of Public Policy at its upcoming campus in Mohali, Punjab along with the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA.
It signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fletcher School recently. The MoU was signed by Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB and Stephen W. Bosworth, Dean, The Fletcher School in the presence of Kapil Sibal, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Rakesh Bharti Mittal – Vice Chairman & MD, Bharti Enterprises and Savita Mahajan, Chief Executive, Mohali Campus and Deputy Dean, ISB.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB, said, “We are delighted to associate with The Fletcher School and benefit from their vast expertise, not just in the area of Public Policy, but also in critically important areas like Food and Water security. I am sure this partnership will generate innovative ideas for both policy formulation and implementation, and create a critical mass of thinkers who would guide and contribute to national initiatives for the future.”
Stephen W. Bosworth, Dean of The Fletcher School, said, “Today marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship that will link two distinguished graduate institutions. The Fletcher School and ISB are equally dedicated to providing forward-thinking, groundbreaking research and teaching, and this partnership will provide tremendous opportunities for cross-collaboration between the two schools”
The collaboration between the two schools is envisaged to cover faculty exchange opportunities, curriculum development, research and teaching support besides joint research projects and joint executive education programmes.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises, said, “The first of its kind agreement lays the foundation for a collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach for high quality research in the area of Public Policy. The partnership will provide meaningful insights in areas such as trade, energy & natural resource, environment and security. The ISB Mohali will also have the support of its Founding Associate Schools for Hyderabad campus – The Wharton School and Kellogg School of Management and London Business School (LBS). It has also signed a MoU with MIT Sloan School of Management for supporting the development of BML Munjal Hero Honda Institute of Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation, and Punj Lloyd Institute of Physical Infrastructure Management.
ISB Mohali’s construction started in August 2010 by and will be completed by March 2012. The first academic session for the Post Graduate Programme in Management will start in April 2012, with an initial batch of 210 students. The Mohali campus will have a unified governance structure along with Hyderabad, with a common Executive Board and a common set of standards and processes.
